I have never used electronic hearing protection before, so I have no basis for comparison, but I have to say, these things are AWESOME. I would buy them again without hesitation (actually, they were a birthday gift). When I cranked the volume all the way up at the range, I could hear the people several tables down from me (about 40 feet) talking as if they were standing next to me. I could hear distant birds and the rustling of my own clothes. It's actually kind of weird. I would say it adds at least 25% to my normal hearing ability. The electronic sound dampening works flawlessly with no noticeable lag. My non-electronic muffs - Peltor Shotgunners - probably reduce incoming decibels slightly better than these, but they are more than adequate for outdoors centerfire rifle shooting. Buy them, and don't look back.

My first impression is that this model is a good value for the money. The fit is good -- even though I wear a very large hat size -- and the noise suppression seems to work well. The exterior access to the battery compartment is convenient. I bought one pair right before a son came to visit. He wore them first when we went out to the range and liked them so well that I just made them a birthday gift. Then I bought a second set for myself.

For the price these are pretty good. They obviously are not Sordin quality but for a cheap pair of electronic muffs they are worth it.

I decided to grab these due to the reviews, and I couldn't be happier. I agree with what so many others have said already.

Fit is always subjective, but they're incredibly comfortable for me. The thinness, and folding up is great. I'm shocked by how good the sound quality is for a set this cheap. I only start to get a little bit of white noise on the very highest amplification level, and at that point they're way beyond natural hearing.

Even on the very highest setting, the white noise is so low I don't think it would annoy me to have them set there for an entire day hunting. What would probably end up driving me nuts me is hearing every squirrel within a two mile radius and the sound of my own breathing.

I HAVE USED HOWARD LEIGHT EAR PROTECTION (NON ELECTRONIC)FOR SEVERAL YEARS, BUT RECENTLY JOINED AN INDOOR SHOOTING RANGE AND COULD NOT HEAR ANYONE THAT TRIED TO SPEAK TO ME. SO I PURCHASED THE HOWARD LEIGHT R-01526 ELECTRONIC HEARING PROTECTION AND I CAN HEAR ANYONE SPEAKING IN A NORMAL TONE AT THE RANGE, BUT OF COURSE, THE GUNSHOTS ARE MUFFLED DOWN TO 82 DECIBLES..........IT'S A PLEASURE TO GO TO THE SHOOTING RANGE NOW THAT I CAN HEAR NORMALLY....THEY ARE REALLY EFFECTIVE AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM HIGHLY ! !
